Goal - Produce 4 one minute dome pieces for the new Eugenides Planetarium
dome Athens, Greece to project during the 2004 Summer Olympics.
This project involved modeling a virtual environment in Maya, exporting the camera motion files to After Effects, and inserting video clips from a DVD provided by the client. Students learned rudimentary video editing, Maya modeling, and After Effects 3D files. The integration of Maya and After Effects is at the heart of this project. Below: Sample Dome Masters from Athens project. Each Dome Master represents one frame of an image that stretches across the domed screen. The first example includes labels of where each part of the image will be projected inside the dome. Notice also that the images appear distorted for project onto a three demsional surface. The columns and Olympic symbol have been animated with streaming video panels interspersed. |
